Our Halloween Party was a big success. We had nearly 100 guest at the center, children of all ages, lots of food, games, prizes, dancing, and a hayride through the town of Whitesville. A reporter from CNN news enjoyed the hayride and even took home some apple butter. If you weren’t here you missed a wonderful evening with lots of excitement.

The Boone-Raleigh Community Center October 2, 2010- Today was a great day at the Community Center. We made Apple butter in a 300 year old copper pot. Rick Bradford, Annie Martin, Robert Martin, Lorelei Scarbro, Carrie Jarrell, Diane Hodge, Parker Platt, Madison Meadows, and several other volunteers took turns in stirring with a large wooden paddle. Robert Martin also manned the fire for several hours. This was a learning experience for most of us who had never made apple butter over an open-fire pit. If you weren’t here you missed a great day. Special Thanks to all who participated. Russ and Sue Flowers of Williamstown WV,thank you so much for the time you took out of your busy schedules to drive down and help out with the stirring and jarring of the apple butter. This was a great success for the group and we hope to repeat it again next year on a bigger scale—-With hope an Apple butter Festival.
